“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” A well-known proverb
that warns us not to make hasty conclusions based only on first impressions. The
same statement could be used to characterize an inconspicuous building on the
outskirts of Bratislava. At first glance, an unremarkable building, of which
there are dozens in the area, is unique precisely because of what is inside it.
In fact, it is a depository of the Bratislava City Museum and the Bratislava
City Gallery, which will soon be filled with a number of rare and unique
exhibits.
And it is precisely for these premises that we have
designed, manufactured and installed efficient storage systems. Thanks to them,
we were able to make maximum use of the available space and at the same time
ensure the necessary conditions for the safe storage of a large number of
exhibits of various types, shapes, dimensions and weights.
The storage systems used can be divided into several
groups:
1. Moving racking systems: maximise the use
of available space thanks to the principle of creating only one access aisle where it is currently needed. More than
420 installed systems differ from each other according to the type of the
stored exhibits. Therefore, there are systems with sliding drawers (for maps
and smaller objects), with horizontal and vertical hanging grids (for
paintings, posters, maps, costumes, or hanging lamps), with a reinforced frames
(for sculptures), open racking systems (for large and heavy exhibits such as
furniture), or with winding rollers (for carpets, fabrics and other textiles).
2. Sliding and static hanging systems with mesh panels: their
design, solid frame and durable steel mesh allow for hanging a large number of
paintings on both sides. We installed up to 500 hanging systems in the
depository.
3. Standard fixed racking systems: they are
characterized by versatility, high load capacity and large span. Almost 20
fixed racks provide a wide range of storage options, including exhibits with
larger dimensions and weight.
4. Winding tubes and rollers: their rubberized surface and high durability provide reliable and safe storage for such specific exhibits as carpets, various textiles, and even oversized documents.
We
appreciate the trust and the opportunity to contribute to the preservation not
only of precious historical items, but also of unique exhibits of modern art
for future generations.
